Autumn Colors on the Carretera Austral. On April 19, 2024, I set out from Coyhaique toward Puerto Ingeniero Ibáñez on a journey that would become one of the most memorable experiences of my trip. Traveling along the Carretera Austral in autumn revealed a landscape that was hard to imagine until I saw it for myself: entire mountainsides painted red, with snow-covered peaks contrasting against the vivid colors of the slopes below.
